August 11, 2014
On May 30, 2008, the SEC adopted a rule which requires reporting companies to provide financial statement information to the Commission and on their corporate Web sites in interactive data format using XBRL. The rules became effective April 13, 2009. The XBRL format allows the financial statement information to be downloaded directly into spreadsheets, analyzed in a variety of ways using commercial off-the-shelf software, and used within investment models in other software formats.
